I feel it necessary to point out here what exactly -agrams are. Many people on here seem to want help on the topic of pentagrams- what are they? Are they evil? What are they used for? I am calling them -agrams because there are different ones depending on how many points the star has. For example a seven pointed star is a septagram. Basically an -agram is a symbol that is used to call upon the power of spirits. This can be to assist you in a spell, to lend you power, or to protect you. The type of -agram you use determines which spirits you call upon. Pentagrams call upon the elemental spirits- earth, air, fire, water, and ether. Whereas sceptagrams call upon the main seven archangels. This is just a taster so i'm not going to go into loads of detail. Learning Magick is more rewarding when you research it yourself. I just hope this casts (no pun intended) some light on the subject.

While we're on the topic...let's also mention the use of the hexagram or hexagon  (six-sided) in magic...specifically in the Seal of Solomon which is heavily used in alchemy, ceremonial magic and Goetia.

Here's a brief link on the topic:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_of_Solomon

It is, and the Seal of Solomon was the original source of the symbol that later began to be associated with Judaism as a whole, just as the Pentagram is associated with Witches.

Nope, you're thinking of Samson.

Solomon was the King who built the first great temple in Jerusalem.  He was reputed to be very wise.  The most famous story about him is the one in which he determined which of two women was the mother of the baby by threatening to cut the baby in half.

I love that story xD. The only story I know about King Solomon. Anyway, Samson's story was tragic >.< . The song 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen made me read a summary of it. xD
